Alicia saw our Nantucket Baggs at the Bizarre Bazaar in Richmond the first weekend in December. She immediately stated, ” I could use that bag tomorrow.” She did and she sent us photographs of her traveling hair stylist tote.

We are working to support the American economy with these baggs and make frequent visits to the factory in Fryeburg, Maine.  It’s great sharing in the process and knowing that our little bit of production can make a difference that that western region of Maine.    Photos and more to follow sooon.

Poking around the Portland waterfront.

We are having a wonderful Maine fall, unseasonably warm but very enjoyable.  This weekend friends came from Northern Maine, fifteen miles from the Canadian border for wandering around the waterfront and ballroom dancing.  Sandy and I decided to poke into some of the side streets and we had been talking about our Nantucket Baggs and how they can be used as a purse or around town bagg.  Needless to say, we decided to photo share the new colors of our Iddy  baggs. 

    

Maine has wonderful light and even though it was early afternoon, we walked in a golden glow looking at fishing shacks and piers lined with lobster traps.  I’m a crocheter and my pattern design is based more on color than stitch variation.  Captivated by the overall images, I did not see the color repetition in the baggs and the landscape until I was reviewing the photos. It just all fit together from the beginning.

Portland has an incredible diversity of dining and as we move toward Commercial Street, the waterfront thoroughfare, we nose around a local bistro.  The Iddy is perfect for carrying your camera, cell phone and wallet without having to hold onto your purse.  Lighten you load for a stroll around the waterfront.  The bagg Sandy is wearing is a promotional bagg for Ball and Skein Yarn Company  in Cambria, CA.  The owners of the Ball and Skein, Oz and Chris, fellin in love with Cambria where the weather is like this weekend year round – found a yarn shop and are now dedicated to yarn and an ocean on the opposite side of the US.  If you get to their shop, tell them the folks from Nantucket Bagg said to say hello and relish in the delightful Oz and Chris and  their wonderful yarns.

17 Old South Wharf, Nantucket, MA

Stop by our shop at 17 Old South Wharf in Nantucket.  Once off the ferry, take a left turn and walk to the next wharf.  Another left and you are in an wonderland of Nantucket.  As you walk down the wharf, water and boats surround you in the distance, but close up are wonderous works of art, clothing, gifts… and of course, Nantucket Baggs: knitting baggs, overnight bags, artist’s field bags, rigger’s baggs – a bag, tote, or backpack for whatever tools you need to organize.   

Charlie has moved the sewing machine to the shop and is working on a luxury version of our bag – stop by to see the work in progress.  The new bags will be featuring leather handles of English Bridle Leather.  Charlie calls them his beauty baggs.

Customers help us define uses for the Original Nantucket Bagg. We have featured our baggs at shows with toiletries for traveling but alas, we did not know the rules. The bagg needed a towel! The towel transports the bagg from being useful when traveling to being needed when one goes from the boat to the showers at the marina, down the hall in the dorm, or for after dance class, yoga, or a workout at the gym.

Campers find it perfect for running to the shower house in the morning, perhaps with towel in hand instead of in the bag, with a change of clothes in your tote.  We have had reports of campers using one to set up their kitchen tools and then hanging them on a nearby tree.

Students have everything in one place before they head down the hall, then when summer comes can convert the bagg to their beach tote.   www.nantucketbagg.com

With a scallop rake in hand, Charlie wades in the Atlantic waters surrounding Nantucket looking for scallops!A twenty-eight year resident of Nantucket, Charlie Cirigliano takes full advantage of the joys of living on an island. His home and office is in the Tom Nevers area of Nantucket, near Sconset. He constructed his own timber frame saltbox there in the 1980's. In addition to scalloping and fishing, he has landscaped his property with a goldfish pond that overwinters about a hundred goldfish and has kept the natural landscape around his home. Due to the large number of deer and rabbits, his garden has a very high fence.We have offices on the mainland, in Gorham, Maine and Bridgeport, CT as well as on Nantucket. Traveling to shows is really difficult from Nantucket. Drats, it turned out I had to fly away before dinner was ready.When scallop season hits Nantucket, you will find many waders, including Charlie, in the water collecting dinner.
